Cheung Tak Man 章 德 民 - 漁 夫

Cheung Tak Man Cheung Tak Man started to explore Chinese Brush Painting at a very young age.   Under his Yi Fu (similar to godfather) - Pu Sin Yu's encouragement he graduated from Guang Zhou Art College in 1962.

He has 40 years art experience including GuoHua (Traditional Chinese painting), oil painting and internal design.

He has familiarized himself with the quality of Chinese ink, the dynamics of different Chinese brush painting technique and the practice of mind concentration in art; he expresses these traditional concepts in his oil paintings.

2005 solo exhibition

His solo art exhibition was successfully held at Asia Art Center in Taipei 2005. Here is a review from Asian Art News Magazine
(Volume 15 number 2 March/April 2005, page 87 - 88, by Andrew Huang)

"      ...the works in it reflect the eclectic styles and elements of his dramatic life. Here his styles include a realistic painting of fish to impressionistic landscape paintings to semi-realist paintings of flowers and still lifes to Monet-like female nudes. ...
...The indisputable highlight is The Naked Woman in the Painting Studio in which a young naked female is depicted siting casually on a wooden chair in a studio against a giant painting within a painting with the desk and window of the room as backdrop. Her hands rest on her slightly spread legs and her eyes are a relaxed gaze. ...
.... One is the eye-catching work entitled Calm, set within a brown-hued room, in which apples, an orange, a tea cup, and a vase with sun flowers are placed atop red-legged table half covered with a blue fabric. The focus of this dramatically colored and finely executed painting is its exploration of the geometric shapes inside these objects while portraying them as realistic objects at the same time. ...
... Together Forever, in which a pair of birds is depicted resting on branches of dramatically colored purple flowers against the backdrop of flourishing green tree branches. The brushstrokes are again impressionistic.
Cheung is apparently enamored and deeply influenced by the pre-, post-, and the entire impressionist movement. He merges the stylistic techniques of impressionism with that of Chinese female, flowers, and landscapes. ..."
